Philip Hodgson Ph.D.
Philip has over 25 years of experience in the world of product usability and in researching human behavior. He has guided product and system design for the US, European, and Asian markets and has contributed to both ANSI and ISO standards for usability. Philip researched speech science at Northeastern University in Boston, and at the University of Oxford, publishing numerous papers before working as an internal user-experience consultant for Nortel, Motorola and Whirlpool, and as an invited researcher with Advanced Telecommunication Research (ATR) Labs at Kyoto Science City in Japan. He was a speech-science consultant to the BBC, a reviewer for the International Journal of Speech Technology, and he received a research award from The Royal Society, the world's oldest scientific institution. Philip holds a B.Sc. (Hons), an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology and is a member of the Usability Professionals' Association, the Association for Psychological Science, and the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation.
David Travis Ph.D.
David holds a B.Sc. (Hons) degree and a Ph.D. in Psychology and is a Chartered Psychologist. His professional affiliations include membership of the British Psychological Society, the Experimental Psychology Society, the Information Architecture Institute and the Usability Professionals Association. His career spans three decades as a researcher, consultant, author and business executive. David has carried out usability consulting activities for a number of clients and he has delivered over 100 seminars in usability for a range of private and public sector organizations. He is a member of two ISO committees for usability. David has written two books on usability (Effective Color Displays: Theory and Practice, and E-Commerce Usability) and co-edited a third (Information Superhighways: Multimedia Users and Futures). His latest book (a free download) is The Fable of the User-Centred Designer.
Lynne Tan D.Phil.
Lynne has more than 15 years of experience as a researcher in human behavior and psychology and in product usability, and as an instructor in experimental design, research techniques and statistical methods. Her work with Blueprint has involved the usability of medical software, consumer goods, packaging, office equipment and interactive television. Lynne also specializes in research with infants and has designed breakthrough methods for researching infants' understanding of physical concepts. Lynne was previously Assistant Professor of Psychology at the National University of Singapore where she published a number of papers describing her work. She holds a D.Phil. in Experimental Psychology from the University of Oxford.
Beth Maddix MS
Beth has almost 20 years of experience in usability, and software and electrical engineering. She has provided usability solutions for a wide range of interfaces, including telecommunications software, domestic appliances and internet-enabled home appliances, websites and web-based applications, and medical software interfaces. Beth has experience in creating touch-screen simulations for control panels and in developing sensor-based controls systems. Beth has previously worked for Verizon Laboratories and Whirlpool. She holds a B.S. and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering, and is a member of the Usability Professionals' Association.
G. Tendayi Viki Ph.D.
Tendayi is an expert in revealing consumer attitudes. He has logged hundreds of hours in tests of human behavior, and specializes in methods that collect implicit customer and user data. He has published several scientific papers, including three book chapters, and has led seminars and tutorials at international symposia. Tendayi holds a B.Sc. (Hons) degree, an M.Sc. and a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology, and he is a Chartered Psychologist. Tendayi's professional affiliations include membership of the British Psychological Society, the Society for Consumer Psychology, the European Association of Experimental Social Psychology, and the Society for Personality and Social Psychology.
Phoebe Ng BS
Phoebe is an award winning Industrial Designer with over 16 years of professional experience. Over her career, Phoebe has led design organizations in both consultant and corporate environments including frog design, Whirlpool and Motorola. Phoebe specializes in human-centered design by weaving cross-functional creative factors, hardware, user interface, usability and technology together into meaningful, useful and aesthetically pleasing products. Phoebe's work spans from consumer electronics, telecommunications, and medical devices, to fashion where she has created design vision and viable design solutions for many US and international customers. Nick Freeman MA
Nick is a user-interface designer par excellence. He studied graphic design at the University of Westminster and then specialized in screen-based interaction design at the Royal College of Art. In response to industry's growing interest in 'humanized' computer-based products and services, Nick focuses on designing for people rather than for computers, and on coupling innovation and simplicity in interfaces for both conceptual and commercially successful systems. He has extensive experience of working with global companies in the USA and Europe. Nick holds a B.A. in Graphic Information Design and an MA in Computer Related Design.
