Blueprint Usability

Our fit to your Design Process

Our services are flexible and we customize them to fit your situation precisely. Whether you are beginning to plan a new project or are well into the design stages, or maybe even nearing the end of the development cycle, Blueprint can help you improve the experience that customers will have with your product or system.

Here’s how we can help at each major stage of the design and development cycle:

Business analysis

At the business analysis stage we help you ensure that the product or system will deliver the right functionality to the right users in the right way. So at this stage we use Stakeholder Analysis and Competitor Analysis.

Requirements capture

At the requirements capture stage we help you understand your users, their goals and tasks, and the environment in which they work. At this stage we carry out User Needs Discovery, User Interviews and Task Analysis. The information we collect is expressed in the form of User Profiles and Usage Scenarios.

Design

During the design phase, we work with your design and development teams to create a product that meets the business and user requirements. We achieve this by using Key Performance Indicators to set usability goals for the product. We use Card Sorting to specify navigation and information architecture, and Paper Prototyping and Interactive Silulations to confirm initial designs.

Testing

During the testing phase, we check that the usability goals are being met. At this stage, we use Usability Inspections and Usability Testing. For Usability Inspections we favour rigorous Heuristic Analysis and Cognitive Walkthroughs. For Usability Testing, we use the Thinking Aloud technique to find usability problems, as well as Performance Measurement to provide usability metrics. Our usability testing also includes the use of a customized Satisfaction Questionnaire to collect subjective user feedback.

Our consulting model is based on an international standard for user-centered design. It complements traditional product and software development processes, and it puts the user in the driving seat.
